I took the drive out, put it in an external case and booted from there and the drive appears to be working. I also tried using Disk Utility, both from the Mac OS install disc and while using the Mac OS itself, but it keeps giving me this error. This is because the drive that I have selected has already been named and formatted and is currently in use.
