When trying to look at my partitioning scheme through Apples Disk Utility Application on Tiger by selecting my whole internal drive and clicking on my partition tab, DU throws the error, I did all the usual things and read the apple support page to no avail.

Fine, if that is how you want to play this game. After becoming frustrated I switched from my imac to my macbook pro and received the same error when trying to create a partition. It would also not see the hard drive in OSX 10.4 when trying to archive before re- installing. It gladly complied, then refused to boot because it was compressed.
