Since I do always have at least two mirrored backups (not counting two current full disk images auto backed up by SuperDuper scripting), I guess I take more chances than most. I've read that HGST is well regarded by some. All I did was open Disk Utility, choose my HD, click partition on the tab on the right, click the plus sign, resize it to 50 GB and then click apply. Theres a reason some of these backup companies offer "unlimited" space...you will need an unlimited amount of time.....
