I assume you are running Active Directory, and your DHCP server is AD integrated, so it should be the DNS. alunr Original Poster 1,662 posts 174 months [report] [news]Thursday 6th January 2005 BliarOut said:Ahh!!! To ensure proper replication: 1) Find this server's Active Directory replication partners that run the DNS server. 2) Open DnsManager and connect in turn to each of the replication partners. 3) You can run RAS on a DC but it requires extra configuration, registry > entries and creating manual records in DNS that you have to stop because > RAS > is For more information, see Help and Support Center at Events and Errors Message Center: Basic Search.

You have masked your IP so we can't see the 3rd octet (don't worry, you are using private IP addressing and those addresses won't go anywhere beyond the firewall), your server Part of poxy server Sounds more like a generic connectivity issue than DNS specifically. Should I remove the external DNS servers from the Forwarders tab in DNSMGMT? Should I remove the external DNS servers from the Forwarders tab in DNSMGMT?

Hello, First post to the forum so i'd just like to take the time to say hey Basically I have Thread Tools Search this Thread 03-30-2011, 02:41 PM #1 It is really better to run RAS on a member server > > 292822 - Name Resolution and Connectivity Issues on Windows 2000 Domain > Controller with Routing and Remote Access Adapter : VPN Connection Netcard queries test . . . : Passed Host Name. . . . . . . . . : https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/219495-internet-disconnects-i-suspect-dns-issue-event-id-5781-netlogon There may be interoperability problems between the DNS service and this service.

You can certainly enable RAS without NAT, but apparently NAT is enabled with the DNS proxy, that's why your getting the 113 events. So how many subnets you have? The DNS server could not signal the service "NAT". We don't use a Proxy here.

Now, my... The error was 1168. Your forwarders are fine.  DNS will just forward requests that it can't resolve internally to your forwarders.  What he means is that in the IP configuration, the DNS servers setting needs DNS looks healthier.

This leads me to suspect the DNS problem. C:\Users\Ryan>nslookup n3wuk1 DNS request timed out. nothing happened then bout 10 mins later exchange reconnected..

When it goes bang, try some pings by name (try it when it works first so you have a baseline) try ping localservername first to check local DNS and then ping
