How do I know that? check here I removed the /etc/texmf/updmap.d/90scalable-cyrfonts-tex fonts, but the installation still failed. (On each attemept I had to touch /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf again which was a pain.) Eventually I ran update-updmap manually: that updated /var/lib/texmf/updmap.cfg-DEBIAN. This may take some time...
