Scratch that - I did a Drupal 7 install today, and what I do personally is use drush. I suspect there is something amiss because I'm installing in the subdirectory, but I really don't know what, or how to fix it. I tried the suggested edits on the .htaccess file, even cut and paste the 7.24 .htaccess code into th 7.24 .htaccess. In my case, the permissions were wrong and produce an error like this in the error log: [Fri Dec 09 22:00:49 2011] [error] [client 220.127.116.11] SoftException in Application.cpp:431: Mismatch between target
