if you kept a back up of your DB before you made changes (a best practice) you can roll back to that DB where the problem wasn't apparent. I can't clear cache via Performance so I cleared it manually. It should read '512M' if you have followed the above steps. B. Everything was back to normal - no server errors at all. I found it interesting that the setting.php solution was necessary according to the comment above....
